Athlete:

Matt Hauser

Matt splits himself between the Gold Coast, training camps in Europe and competing on the world triathlon stage.

Matt's ambition is to win a gold medal at the highest level for Australia.

What is your ultimate finish line?

Medal at the Olympic Games for Australia.

What are you most proud of?

The Environment and support network I've helped build around me.

Who is to thank/blame for introducing you to your sport? Tell us your history to how it all began, how you got to where you are now.

My Coach from Hervey Bay Brian 'Harro' Harrington. He brought me into the sport from running, I was into AFL from a young age as well but had to give that up to pursue Triathlon. After improving my swim leg I gained successes in school sport and then eventually was talent ID'd for Triathlon Australia, moved to the Gold Coast to train and study at 17, I then won the junior world title and elite mixed relay title and Commonwealth games gold. Now 23, I have graduated with Business/Marketing degree and still on the GC, still loving and soaking up the process.

If you could invite any 3 people (dead or alive) to a dinner party, who would they be and why? What would you cook?

George Harrison, Tom Hardy, Louis Theroux. I love George Harrison's music and I think he would have a lot of untold stories, Tom Hardy because he's one of my favourite actors and Louis Theroux to mediate and just a very interesting person with a wealth of knowledge and life experience. BBQ for some Aussie flare.

Describe your perfect day - how does it look, what do you do and who are you with?

Sunrise jog, body surf/surf, coffee and brekky with mates. Go to a record store with Dad. Back to the beach and kick the footy or play beach cricket with girlfriend and mates, maybe fit a round of 9 in at the golf course. Finish up at a nice bar to have a couple sunset beers.

What is your favourite 2XU product and why? How does this help you prepare, perform, recover and repeat?

The Propel Pro Wetsuit and Power recovery compression tights. The Propel Pro Wetsuit is the best I've used, never had any issues or bad swims (touch wood) with it. Tights are a mainstay in heavy blocks of training or days before a race.
